Indian Iron & Steel Industry in April-October 2007-08: A Statistical Summary

Production of crude steel was 30.32 mt during April-October 2007-08, a growth of 6 percent compared to same period of last year. The Main Producers produced 12.62 mt during this period, which was a growth of 1.1 percent compared to same period of last year. In the Secondary sector, EAF units (including COREX/MBF-EOF) produced 8.2 mt (growth of 9 percent) and IF units produced 9.5 mt (growth of 8.9 percent). Thus for the Secondary sector as a whole, crude steel production during April-October 2007-08 stood at 17.7 mt, a growth of 8.9 percent compared to same period of last year.
