Indian Iron & Steel Industry in April-November 2009: A Statistical Summary

1. Production of crude steel during April -November 2009 was at 37.98 mt, a growth of 4.9% compared to April - November 2008. The Main Producers produced 15.247 mt during this period, which was a growth of 4.3% compared to last year. The Major Producers produced 8.679 mt during this period, which was a growth of 25.7% compared to last year. The rest i.e. 14.054 mt was the contribution of the Other Producers, which was a decline of 4.4% compared to last year. 2. Pig iron production for sale in April - November 2009 was 3.671 mt (remains same as compared to last year), after accounting for own consumption/IPT.
