Priorities in the Design of Chemical Shops at Coke Plants

Recent trends in the design of chemical equipment at coke plants are described, through the lens of experience at Giprokoks. Some technological equipment is briefly characterized. The beginning of this century was marked by a surge in coke production. New coke batteries were bui byproduct-treatment shops and shops for remov-ing hydrogen sulfide from coke-oven gas were recon-structed; and new plant infrastructure was created. The main priorities of Giprokoks in designing chemical shops at coke plants are to improve the removal of impurities from coke-oven gas; to improve equipment design on the basis of new materials; to reduce reagent consumption; to reduce the materials and energy con-sumed in the construction of new equipment; and to minimize impacts on the environment and worker health.
