We read with great interest the article by Verret et al, "The arterial distribution of Embozene and Embosphere micro-spheres in sheep kidney and uterus embolization models" (1). The authors, among whom are inventors and patent holders of Embosphere (Merit Medical, Rockland, Massachusetts) microparticles, hypothesized that with Embozene (CeloNova BioSciences, San Antonio, Texas) microparticles "nontargeted embolization may be performed as occlusion sites might be highly unpredictable." The goal of this letter is to reconcile the difference in the findings of this article and previously published studies on the clinical successes in thousands of patients with uterine fibroid embolization with Embozene microparticles.
