Institute of Medical Illustrators Anatomy Workshop, Dundee, 21 March 2012

The IMI Anatomy Workshop was held at the Centre for Anatomy .and Human Identification (CAHId) at the University of Dundee. At 12.30pm we were welcomed by Caroline Erolin, Lecturer on the MSc in Forensic and Medical Art course. The afternoon commenced with a small buffet, which gave us the opportunity to get acquainted with the other candidates attending the workshop. There were nine candidates, most of whom had travelled some distance, one even from Manchester.Roger Soames, Cox Professor of Anatomy, then gave a lecture on Thiel soft-fix embalming'. Thiel is 'a sophisticated method of preservation of complete human cadavers that allows them to maintain most of the features of a live body, particularly with regard to the authenticity of colour, tissue consistency and flexibility.
