摘要

Mining activity results in loss of essential soil nutrients, organic matter and microbial population. Development of a self sustained system on mine spoils need an integrated approach comprised of afforestation supplemented with microbial inoculation,organic mulches and other organic amendments. Application of organic wastes and sewage sludge has also been recommended for soil organic matter development on mine spoils. Adoption of such a technology would provide an environmentally sustainable approach for restoration of mined degraded lands and simultaneously will also provide potential strategy for terrestrial carbon sequestration.
