Comparative efficacy of ivermectin, fenbendazole and Punica granatum against gastro-intestlnal nematodosis in sheep

A stydy on the therapeutk efficacy of three anthelmintics viz., invermectin (Ivomac) at dose rate of 200 mu g / kg b.wt. by s/c injection, fenbendazole (Panacur) at dose rate of 5 mg/kg b.wt. and palv Punica granatum at dose rate of 400 mg/kg body, weight orally gastrointestinal nematode infection hi sheep was carried out. The treatment with ivermectui by single injection registered a steep fall hi eggs per gram (EPG) from the pertreatment value of 2675.00 to 0.00 on 3rd day post-treatment indicatingthe cent per cent efficacy. Fenbendazole proved 93.55% effective with mean EPG reduced from the pretreatment value of 2712.50 to 175.00 post-treatment. Punica granatum proved moderately effective (70.18%) as the mean EPG was reduced from the pre-treatment value of 2683.33 to 80000 post-treatment.
