Prevalence of endoparasitism in anaemic goats

Out of 250 anaemic goats subjected to detailed fecal sample examination, 122 (48.8%) goats had one or more endoparasitic infection. Among infected goats strongylosis was the predominant one (41.80%), followed by coccidiosis (16.4%), moneiziosis (13.11%), strongyloidosis (8.20%), trichuriosis (4.10%), amphistomosis (4.10%) and schistosomosis (0.82%). Mixed infection was noticed in 11.47% of the infected goats. Faecal culture and micrometry of L3 larvae of strongyle revealed that Haemonchus spp., was present in 70% of the cultures. Other species included Bunostomum spp., Trichostrongylus spp., and Nematodirus spp.
