A career dedicated to translational research in colorectal cancer

After my boards in Germany and training in Hematology and Oncology with more focus on hematology under Professor HD Waller, I wanted to spend some time in a basic research laboratory. "With the help of the Mildred Scheel Stiftung der Deutschen Krebshilfe, I was lucky to be able to get a postodoctoral fellowship at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1991. At this time there was very limited research in solid tumors. The Cancer Center at USC was founded in 1973 as one of the first eight Comprehensive Cancer Centers initiated by President Nixon on this war against Cancer.
