Q How is PET currently used for the staging and evaluation of colorectal cancer (CRC)?At present, the only tracer routinely used is fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG), which has been studied extensively for the last 10-15 years and is routinely used in staging as an adjunct to standard computer tomography and MR. I would not say the use of PET-FDG for staging is a routine test we order on every patient every day, it is a test we use in addition to CT and MR when there are remaining questions.
