摘要

OTAI(NZ)is organizing 59~(th)OTAI Annual Convention and National Seminar on December 4-5,2004 at New Delhi.The theme would be"Research and Development in the Oils Fats and Allied Industry in 21~(st)Century".The previous decade had a phenomenal growth in the production and processing of oilseed.The country almost reached towards self reliance in production of oilseed.However the productivity per hectare still remains half of the world average.We also have made significant development in the processing of oilseed and vegetable oils and development of new products like Vanaspati,Refined oil,Shortening and products related to Fatty Acid.Now due to the import of Crude Palm Oil and Palmolein,the indigenous oil seed production is decreasing.Therefore the country is again heading towards dependency on imports.
