Today, more and more systems are required to perform autonomously to improve efficiency and reduce the cost of the operation. Autonomous vehicles can operate in environments that would be of high risk for humans. Unmanned aerial vehicles [UAV] are examples of such systems. Safety of autonomous vehicles is important; otherwise, significant damage to the vehicle or even fatalities can be experienced, depending on the nature of the accident. Autonomous systems are required to make their own decisions without human interference, and plans need to change in response to events and failures that occur during the vehicle operation. These decisions must be made taking into account information about the health of the vehicle, conditions for the operation and also the risk associated with the actions to the platform itself and other objects that can be affected.
