Comparative Performance of Bt Cotton and Non Bt Cotton under Integrated Pest Management

Field experiments were conducted at Regional Agricultural Research station, Lam, Guntur to study the performance of Bt and non Bt cotton hybrids under integrated pest managementfor two consecutive seasons. The incidence of sucking pests was kept undercontrol in both Bt and non Bt hybrid by the adoption of IPM practices, while the incidence of both American and pink bollworms andfruiting body damage was negligible with higher incidence of natural enemies in Bt cotton under IPM. Growing of Bt cotton under IPM realized higher cost benefit ratio due to reduction in plant protection cost of bollworms together with higher seed cotton yield
