Series of diorganosilicon(IV) and diorganotin(IV) complexes having the formulae R2MCl(L~1), R2MCl(L~2), R2MCI(L~3), R2MCI(L~4), R2M(L~1)2, R2M(L~2)2, R2M(L~3)2 and R2M(L~4)2 , where M = Si and Sn, R= CH3, have been synthesized. All the complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance and spectroscopic studies including UV, IR, ~1H, ~(13)C, ~(29)Si and ~(119)Sn NMR. On the bases of these studies, the five and six coordinated complexes have been proposed to have trigonal bipyramidal and octahedral geometries respectively.
