摘要

Several thiazolidinedione classes of compounds (drugs) found to be very effective in reducing insulin resistance or to efficiently potentiate insulin action in type 2 non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) patients;the structure-activity relationship of such related compounds,similar to ciglitazone,giving rise to the development of troglitazone,englitazone,pioglitazone and rosiglitazone as new drug entities for diabetes,and several studies showing that analogs of these classes interact with a nuclear receptor PPARgamma and transcript the insulin sensitizing genes form the subject-matter of this review.
