I apologise to all and sundry for the title. To those who do not understand Latin, I apologise for using a foreign language - that is "dead" to boot. For the rest (yes, those Latin scholars) I apologise for probably making ten grammatical errors in one short sentence. In using this title I wanted to underline the spirit of change that is pervading the Society and that was illustrated at the Annual General Meeting of the Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa, held on 19 June 2009 at the Amazingwe Conference facility. This issue of the Journal showcases the Presidential Address and some proceedings.A congratulatory word of thanks goes to Mr James van Rensburg, the outgoing president and a warm word of welcome is due to Dr Bharath Belle the incoming president. May his year of office be filled with success and progress!
