The automobile technology bloomed. The automobiles grew faster and faster day by day and more sophisticated too. And after the industrial revolution, more and more people managed to buy a car for their personal use. Today we see there are billions of cars on roads. This increased number of cars increased the chances of road accidents and around the world, thousands of people die on the road per day. Some of the main reasons for such accidents are alcohol consumption of driver, tiredness of driver, carelessness of driver, over speeding and rest are the reasons associated with technical problems in the automobile itself. This makes us think what if we used microcontroller and various sensors to monitor some of the parameters of car and driver and alarm the driver if anything goes bad? This led us to design the Car Safety and Annunciation System. In Car Safety and Annunciation System, we have sensors such as Alcohol Sensor [6], fuel level sensor, engine temperature sensor, speed sensor, door interlock and steering switches. We are also using global positioning system (GPS) device to continuously track the position of the vehicle on map. To control all these components we are using the microcontroller AT89S52 [4].
