摘要

Jitter in a pulse is the variation in propagation delay of consecutive pulses when passed through a circuit. It is caused due to changes taking place in other inputs to the circuit including biasing power supply and noise. In the IGBT based pulsed power supply for Copper vapour laser (CVL), jitter in the IGBT trigger pulse is a very important parameter which is contributed by its switching circuit. This Jitter was found to reduce drastically when its power supply was changed from switch mode power supply (SMPS) type with ripple of 2-3% to linear type with ripple of 0.1%. These observations of reduction in jitter (from 40 ns to 4 ns) in trigger pulse due to low ripple or more stable power supply and increased pulse amplitude in the switching circuit of IGBT are presented in this paper.
