Non-ideal Mixing Model for Empty Tube Based on Dispersion and Velocity Distribution

摘要

A flow model on the basis of combination of velocity distribution and dispersion for pulse input in empty circular conduits has been proposed in this article. The analysis assumed the fundamental diffusion equation and laminar velocity profile. To evaluate performance of the model, an experimental program was carried out using an electrolytic tracer and a neutral carrier fluid flowing through a tubular flow field. Tracer pulses are introduced at tube entry and from two conductivity detectors, the input pulse and output responses are obtained. The task of fitting model response corresponding to an experimental response has been performed by an indigenously developed multiple parameter linear search routine OPTIM1, in which a suitably selected error criterion is minimized by adjusting the three model parameters. The error between experimental and model response is evaluated at sufficiently small time intervals DT to calculate error criterions. The quality of 'fit' obtianed is satisfactory. This indicates the potential of the proposed model for representing distributed parameter systems in a dynamic simultion and control system design application.
