Control Architecture of Mechatronic System for Automated Manual Clutch

摘要

Optimum engagement of automotive clutch not only effects driving comfort, but also the life of vehicle's bodyline and fuel economy. Operation of an automotive clutch in a vehicle with manual transmission calls for high-level skills. Such skills can be imparted to a driver only through adequate training and experience. Based upon the skills and experience acquired, and acclimatization with the vehicle, the driver is able to exercise adequate control over the clutch release operation during the engagement phase so as to achieve a ierk-free and smooth gear-shift operation or vehicle launch, without killing the engine. However, even for a skilled driver, it is difficult to achieve consistently good engagement quality. Therefore, the automation of the clutch in a vehicle with conventional transmission, is gaining increasing interest among the automotive manufacturers. The control architecture of such automated manual clutch is presented in this work, integrating system's dynamic and control logic elements.
