New Vistas in Perspective of Land Use Planning

The World population is expected to be around 9.2 billion by the year 2050. In Asian subcontinent population in urban cities will be more than double, while rural population will remain relatively stable which means more mouths to feed and less peopleinvolved in food production (Urdal 2008; Roetter et al. 2000). Land use planning under multiple (and partly) conflicting development goals with increasing competition for scarce resources is complex and planners need tools such as models and expert systems to make the issues transparent and identify feasible solutions.
