Two of the commonly used Indian spices,namely,Cumin and Black Pepper,have been subjected to grinding for various time intervals in a domestic batch grinder(SUMEET).Rosin-Rammler distribution equation has been found to fit for the ground product.The 'dispersion constant'(n)and the 'absolute she constant'(a),have an excellent agreement with the grinding feriod for each of the spices.Such relationship is of the form n or a = X(theta)~x with a maximum and minimum standard deviation of(+-)16.3% and(+-)3.9%for 'n'and 'a',respectively.These correlations,when coupled with the original Rosin-Rammler equation,enable to estimate the amount of ground material of a required size that can be obtained after a definite period of grinding.A standard deviation of(+-)9.1% only for 53 numbers of samples tested has been observed.
