Successful treatment of cheilitis granulomatosa with intralesional injection of triamcinolone

Editor,We read with great interest the letter by Sobjanek et al, proposing use of intralesional triamcinolone associated with dapsone in the treatment of cheilitis granulomatosa (CG) in Melkersso-Rosenthal syndrome (MRS).On the other side, we have to underline the possibility of success in using intralesional triamcinolone alone, without association of dapsone.This is widely described in the literature, while, as reported by Sobjanek, there are few reports regarding this association.In the literature, we found a case described of unsuccessful treatment, and a case of successful treatment of MRS-related headache with dapsone, while the use of intralesional triamcinolone alone is widely described.A 50-year-old male patient presented to us with a permanent swelling of the upper lip, with a slight erythematic aspect, more evident at the right side; on palpation, there was an increased consistency, which felt granulose, and no pain was evoked, and the swelling had begun about 2 years ago (Fig 1).
