Giant intracranial capillary hemangioma in a 3-year-old child: Case report and literature review

Capillary hemangioma is a benign vascular tumor characterized by proliferation of vascular channels and endothelial cells. It predominantly targets the skin and mucosa surfaces of female infant, such as nasal cavity and the tongue. In most cases, capillary hemangioma presents as a red papule or strawberry mark and can be easily diagnosed. Only very few cases of giant capillary hemangioma have been reported, and capillary hemangioma with bone destruction in middle cranial fossa has not been reported in the existing literature. In this article, we report an extreme case of a giant capillary hemangioma of the middle cranial fossa with bone destruction in a 3-year-old child and review the relevant literature.
