Characterization of pressure drop in hydraulic system using Manganin wire measurements

In the present study, the outlet hydraulic pressure characteristics of the spool valve were investigated. Two types of the outlet configurations were employed, one is single orifice that is perpendicular to the spool shaft, and the other is a dual orifice with inclination to the centerline of spool shaft. The purpose of the special orifice designed of the outlet is to improve the characteristics of pressure drop. The pressure of testing tube is converted to resistance through Manganin alloy wire pressure sensor, and measured the output voltage by a Wheatstone bridge. The Manganin wire was installed into a testing tube, in which the volume is only 4 cm{sup}3 at 250 bars. The time taken of pressure drop has been shortened efficiently when the outlet is designed with dual orifices.
