摘要

On the basis of the power-law fluid model, the effects of non-Newtonian lubricants on the steady and dynamic characteristics of a wide slider bearing are analyzed. Considering bearing squeezing action, the non-Newtonian Reynolds-type equation is obtained to account for the transient motion of the slider. By applying a small perturbation technique, a closed-form solution for the load capacity, stiffness coefficient and damping coefficient is obtained for engineering application. According to the results obtained, higher load-carrying capacities and better dynamic characteristics are predicted for higher viscosity-shear rate index, especially for the bearing with small wedge parameter.
