摘要

Exact shape of grinding wheel by dressing has a large influence on the grinding performance. Most of the techniques for creating regular surface patterns by grinding consist of shaping a set of regular grooves arranged in a particular way on the wheel surface. Therefore, developing the precise geometry of the grinding wheel model is very important to evaluate the workpiece quality and to perform a simulation on machining. In this paper, a new mathematical model for the generation of 3-dimensional geometry of grooved wheel is proposed based on dressing. A dressing tool having rounded tip is used for the dressing of grinding wheel instead of sharp tip tool of previous work in order to produce the helical groove on the wheel surface. A simulation program is developed according to the proposed mathematical model using Matlab in order to obtain 3 dimensional shape of grooved wheel model. The proposed simulation model of the grooved wheel could be used to predict the precise surface pattern by further simulation of grinding process or to optimize the actual dressing process.
