Here/in this issue and there/abstract thinking: Adolescence to adulthood: Are some children falling into the gap?

Child and adolescent psychiatrists are often tasked with the challenge of treating patients in various contexts-in the family, in their school, among their peers, and directly and in collaboration with other providers. As such, it is incumbent on child psychiatrists to understand how broad dynamics outside a clinical visit may significantly affect an individual's functioning. Articles in this issue of the Journal present several aspects of adolescent mental health that extend beyond the boundaries of the clinician's office.
