Special Commentary: Peer review of manuscripts for biomedical journals

摘要

Since the end of World War II, peer review of manuscripts has been required for pulylication in biomedical journals. Young clinicians/scientists, after publishing a few quality articles, are often asked to review an article in their area of expertise.Rarely do instructions to reviewers contain sufficient information to guide the novice reviewer. This article was written to outline the process of peer review. Inexperienced reviewers can use it as a guide in developing their reviewing style, whereas experienced reviewers may find some points that they tend to overlook.
