摘要

An in-situ study of optical constants of a workpiece material when polishing demonstrates that the light absorption and reflection coefficients grow with decreasing oscillation phase difference between mutually perpendicular components of the electric vector of the beam that passed twice through the workpiece having reflected from the work surface. The relationships between the workpiece material optical constants and the polishing time are established experimentally and approximated by periodic functions. The cyclic variations of the workpiece material optical constants and the tool surface condition are found to have been due to the formation of a buildup.
