We read with great interest the report by Gunn et al [1] regarding the results of their survey of primary care physicians' perspective on the radiology report. We were quite surprised to find that no respondents thought that results should be communicated to patients directly by radiologists and wonder if the authors specifically addressed situations in which radiologists routinely interact directly with patients during imaging, radiologists perform procedures on patients, or patients specifically request the results from radiologists. In our practice, both ultrasound and breast imaging are "hands-on" specialties. In ultrasound, we frequendy perform limited reimaging and then discuss the results with patients.
