Be prepared: Enforcement of the new HIPAA rules

In September 2013, the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) officially began enforcement of the omnibus regulations published pursuant to the Heath Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (herinafter referred to as the "HITECH regulations"). As a result, all covered entities (eg, radiologists, other providers, and insurance plans) will need to establish or make immediate changes to their existing HIPAA [1] compliance programs.
