Alow import demand and squeezing prices on the coconut oil [CNO] in the world market was noted in 2009. The main buying countries such as USA, EU and China, due to low economic growth in those countries amid global economic recession, had to rationalize their requisitions of lauric oils, including palm kernel oil [PKO]. Consequently, the import demand of PKO expanded significantly at the expense of CNO.
