Did Nicolo Manuzzi (1639-1717) carry out reconstructive nose surgery himself?

It was a great pleasure to read the excellent article by Sykes, Santoni-Rugiu and Mazzola on the first known report of the Indian method of rhinoplasty written by the Italian self-made physician Nicolo Manuzzi (1639-1717) about a century before the letter to the Gentleman's Magazine was published in 1794. Manuzzi had 'seen many persons with such noses' and considered them 'not so disfigured as they would have been without any nose at all'. As Manuzzi wrote a detailed description of the procedure Sykes et al. conclude that 'it is evident that Manucci saw the 'Indian Method' of reconstructive Rhinoplasty'.
