摘要

Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is an important edible Kharif oilseed crop of Jharkhand State. It is grown in hotter and drier areas covering approximately 14784 hectares in the State with an annual production of about 7392 thousand tonnes and productivity of 500 kg/ha (Mishra, 2004). Regular occurrence of Corynespora blight disease has been recorded from Ranchi, Latehar, Medininagar, Garhwa, Gumla and Dumka districts of Jharkhand State. The disease has also been reported from adjoining Bihar and OrissaStates (Mohanty and Mohanty, 1955; Hassan, 1976). The causal fungus is seed-borne in nature and also survives on left over trashes in the field. Little information in regard to genotypes possessing resistance to the pathogen is available in literature. Field trials were, therefore, undertaken to evaluate different sesame entries and results have been presented in this paper.
