The availability of efficient chemistries for surface modification is crucial for the design of surfaces with specific properties.1 Orthogonal click reactions have become increasingly popular for mod ifying surfaces, especially those based on pericyclic reactions such as the copper catalyzed azide alkyne coupling.1 The activity of polymer chemists in devising conjugation approaches is driven by the need to finely control the surface properties as the performance of functional materials is strongly related to the processes and interactions that are occurring at interfaces. Here, we present a facile chemical strategy to modify surfaces via orthogonal hetero Diels-Alder (HDA) conjugation (see later).
