The paper presents two-year results of study of the influence of various methods of soil management (clean cultivation, mowing, herbicide application, mulching) on the yield and fruit size of apple cv Idared along with the study of leaf transpirationintensity and humidity content in the soil. The highest yield was obtained by clean cultivation (19,833 kg/tree, i.e. 24.791 kg/ha). By the same treatment obtained fruits were the largest (168.3 g). The water content oin the soil was highest also at application of clean cultivation (20,34%) and the lowest in the method of mowing the whole acreage. Leaf transpiration intensity was the lowest at clean cultivation (0.2198 g/cm~2/hour), and the highest at mulching (0.2621 g/cm~2/hour).
