The price increases experienced last month have continued into August, despite the quiet seasonal holiday period. However, whether these price increases are accepted by buyers returning to the market remains to be seen, although they may have little choice as destocking activity comes to an end. Prices are likely to increase further in the fourth quarter on improving end use prospects, although mills will need to maintain low production forthe higher prices to be sustained. Mills will also look to keep prices high so as to discourage cheaper imports.
