Coal-sector sales boost Caterpillar's Q2

Peoria, Illinois based-Caterpillar, a global manufacturer, servicer, dealer and financier of construction and mining equipment, reported an expansion in Asian and US coalsector operations in its second-quarter 2010 earnings results. In the figures released Thursday, Caterpillar reported that gains in Central Appalachian coal prices and “a large increase in sales volume” to China led to an improved coal sector, which “further increased mining sales.”
