Lethargic Friday ends declining OTC coal week

Trading in Friday's over-the-counter coal market continued its slow pace, culminating a week of few trades and declining prices. Trades in NYMEX look-alike and CSX-origin, 12,500- Btu/lb, -1 percent sulfur coal for 2009 periods dropped roughly 10 dollars over the period, while the Powder River Basin coals seemed to hold their own. In the PRB 8,800-Btu/lb market, trades for December 2008 went for 9.75 dollars/short ton and 10.25 dollars/st, and possibly two trades for December physical went for the same prices.
