With the theme, "Facing New Challenges With Best Practices and Innovative Thinking," the SPE International Conference on Health, Safety, and Environment in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production will take place in Rio de Janeiro from 12 to 14 April. Since 1991, the conference has highlighted best practices and challenges in health, safety, and the environment (HSE). This year's conference will address such issues as climate change, public-health needs in developing countries, and other social-responsibility issues. "The theme of the 2010 conference reflects the innovation and sharing of best practices that are imperative in the current global climate to maximize our HSE programs and help achieve the needs of our shareholders and stakeholders," said Conference General Chairperson Guilherme Estrella, chief E&P officer for Petrobras.
