The results of high resolution rovibrational analysis of the V_8 band of thiophene using infrared synchrotron radiation were reported. The sample was prepared by introducing 500 mTorr of thiophene vapor pressure from the room temperature liquid into a 2-m multipass cell. The cell was adjusted to 40 passes to give a total pathlength of 80 m, as the band was expected to be weak. Interferograms were collected at room temperature over a period of approximately 12 hours, while the V_8 band spectrum was calculated by first averaging 120 separate interferograms before applying a Fourier transform. The averaged background interferogram was transformed with additional zero filling to match the number of points in the thiophene spectrum. The final absorption spectrum between 400 and 750 cm~(-1) was also calculated.
