Pre-labour spontaneous uterine rupture at 31 weeks' gestation following laparoscopic excision of a broad ligament paramesonephric cyst and literature review.
A 35-year-old G3 PO+2 presented acutely at 31 weeks' gestation, with lower abdominal pain and reduced fetal movements.Two years earlier, she had complained of episodes of acute on chronic abdominal pain. She subsequently had operative laparoscopy for a left broad ligament mass (Figure 1) attached to the lateral border of the uterus. The mass was excised (Figure 2) using the harmonic scalpel? and the defect sutured in two layers with number one Vicryl? (polyglactin polyfilament) suture and 2/0 Monocryl?) suture to approximate the broad ligament. The procedure was uneventful and she was discharged the following day. Histology of the mass showed a paramesonephric cyst. At follow-up, she was pain free.
