Superficial myofibroblastoma of the lower female genital tract: first case report of a pregnant patient.

Introduction:Recent advances within histopathology have categorised a new distinct, benign mesenchymal tumour that is seen to arise from the superficial lamina propria of the cervix, vagina and vulva. Superficial myofibroblastoma is one of a range of mesenchymal tumours and tumour-like lesions occurring in the lower female genital tract. The varying types of mesenchymal lesions exhibit some histological and immunohistochemical commonality (Ganesan et al. 2005; Laskin et al.2001; Stewart etal.2005).
