Response of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) to NPK, Mg and Zn with or without organic manure in different soil types

Studies were carried out between 1990 and 1996 under rainfed conditions at five locations to know the response of Kharif sesame to NPK, Mg and Zn with and without organic manure. The pooled results revealed significant seed yield response of sesame to NPK in all the soil types. Application of MgSo4 alongwith NPK was beneficial only on Vertisol at Amreli while that of ZnSo4 only at Jalgaon on Vertisol. There was significant response to application of organic manure on Inceptisol at Tikamgarh and Vertisol at Jalgaon. Combined application of MgSo4 and ZnSo4 with organic manure was beneficial only on Vertisol at Amreli and Nagpur and Afisol at Mandore. Based on net returns, in addition to recommended NPK, application of ZnSo4 alongwith organic manure at Amreli and application of oranic manure at other locations was found highly remunerative.
