Studies on intercropping in sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) under rainfed conditions in different agroclimatic conditions

Field experiments were carried out during rainy season for three years at four locations to find out the most profitable intercropping systems with sesame. The results revealed that on Inceptisol at Tikamgarh sesame + urdbean (4:2) and on Vertisol atNagpur sesame + groundnut (3:1) were significantly more remunerative intercropping systems. At Nagpur, intercropping sesame with mungbean, urdbean and soybean in 3:1 ratio were also more remunerative than sole sesame. On Alfisol at Vridhachalam and on Vertisol at Amreli introduction of any intercrop in sesame had adverse effect on the productivity of both component crops and was not remunerative than sole crop of sesame.
