摘要

F urther developments in waste and byproduct feedstocks for bioplastics are taking place in Europe. One of the most substantial challenges in unifying the gamut of small or medium-sized producers involved. Another is the variability of the source material, exacerbated by the nature of this supply chain. Projects such as Transbio, an EU-funded initiative to capitalise on waste products in fruit and vegetables, are addressing these challenges. The ?4 million initiative is exploring fermentation and enzyme conversion ef for ts to turn waste fruit and vegetables into biopolymers, along with other products such as nutraceuticals, succinic acid, and detergent enzymes.
