Effect of N and S Application on Fertilizer S Utilization in Wheat-Moong Cropping Sequence

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of partial substitution of N through FYM and application of sulphur for wheat in wheat-moong cropping sequence. FYM substitution at higher level (50%) resulted in reduction of wheat yield. Application of sulphur increased the yield of wheat, but the treatment differences were not significant. Moong responded to residual fertilizer S. Fertilizer S recovery by wheat, moong and soil was found to be 29 to 66%. Out of which 23 to 58% of the fertilizer-Swas found in 0-30 cm depth soil and the increment in the available-S content of soil was marginal.
