The status of coal mining industry in China has been introduced in this paper, mainly including status of coal mining industry in China's economy, coal resource, output and operating costs of coal, coal extracting technology, safety running status of coal mining industry, green mining techniques, etc. China is the largest coal producer and consumer in the world. In 2004, its coal output amounted to more than 1,956Mt, accouting for almost 30 percent of the global coal output and 70 percent of the primary energy in China. 70 percent of energy for the gross power generation and 26 percent of stuff for chemical industry are both from coal. The distribution and proportion of energies in China 2004 are shown in Fig. 1, coal presents almost 67 percent of them. The percentage of coal in Chinese energies during the years from 1955 to 2004 are shown in Fig.2. From Figs.1 and 2, we can conclud that the coal is the most important primary energy and is indispensable for China.
