Activities of mining research cell of Indian Bureau of Mines: a resource in serving the mineral industry for sustainable development

The M.R. Cell is carrying out experimental observations and scientific validation. Region-wise, it has generated environmental data, which could be used in future as a data bank for fixing the environmental standards, on regional basis. The present trend in the Government circle has suggested generating revenue from the research facility available with the organisation. It is looking forward in both the directions for applied/basic research and revenue generation depending upon the needs of mining industries. It has acquired necessary expertise and state-of-art technology, equipment to conduct various investigations on the areas of mining environment, evaluation of adequacy and efficiency of environmental control measures, monitoring airborne dust level in work environment and geo-technical investigations on rock mass characterisation, stability of pit slopes, waste dumps, tailing dams and design of underground excavations.
